Antonio Conte dares to dream with Inter Milan

As the Nerazzurri reach the Serie A summit, Conte could be on the verge of his greatest achievement.

Inter Milan are making good on their agenda to topple Juventus as Serie A champions.

At least, they will, should Inter play like they did in the second half against Milan, and not so much if they ever repeat their first half display. But having come back from two goals down in the Derby della Madonnina, it seems manager Antonio Conte is daring to dream of the Scudetto.

Antonio Conte, Inter Manager:

For sure it is a dream. It is a dream for us like it is for Lazio, no doubt about it, or for Atalanta or for Roma, all the teams that are up there.

It‘s a bit of a stretch to put Atalanta and Roma in the race, but with Lazio just a point down on Inter, who lead Juve on goal difference alone, that’s three teams with skin in the race, and that’s exciting for Serie A.

Heck, it beats the title races in Ligue 1, La Liga, and the Premier League this season.

We are talking about a tournament that has been utterly dominated by one team - Juventus - in the last few years, a team that utterly deserved to win and to dominate. Today we are 'midway through the journey of our life' as they say and there is some sort of fight for the title.

When it comes to ‘the fight’, few would bet against a team coached by Conte. Just look back to his days with Italy, Chelsea, or Juve before that.

He’s really only been in Milan a few months, yet his Nerazzurri have shown their mental strength time and again. The derby win was just the latest display.

I said that from the beginning of the year we have been facing difficult situations, which made us stronger and we are improving from this point of view.

Conte has won titles with Bari, Chelsea and Juventus - he was the one who put The Old Lady back on her perch in 2012 following relegation to Serie B due to match fixing.

But if Inter are the team to knock them back off it for the first time since then, it would be Conte’s greatest achievement.
